![]() It would save me $$$ and time being able to cull and edit in one app. I also beta test the latest LR and it's getting faster and more useful by the release. I will say though that beefier computers have sped up the LR beast somewhat. It's such a huge waste of time to import and wait, only to delete most shots while culling at a turtles pace. Anyhow, I'm so surprised that LR hasn't figured this out yet. I've tried and own a bunch of software that I've tried to use as well. I also have FastPictureViewer as well, but it is old and doesn't work well with newer canon files. Once I'm done with that, I usually import to LR and then compare close ones. Also the tools to quickly bump shadows etc. One feature I love is the overlay on the thumbnails with SS/ISO/AP with the selected photo's EXIF also shown with the Histogram too. I use it to quickly make a few passes and get rid of the unwanted pics for various reasons. I have been using FastRawViewer for years and always gravitate back to it after trying everything. I'm not sure if it has the options to show the camera settings on the pics in On1 though. I watched the video and didn't even really know that On1 had the compare tools. I wouldn't consider it as an alternative to Lightroom or Acdsee because the catalog / DAM features seem better in ACdSee and Lightroom, and because those two have face recognition which On1 lacks. In fact, the best compare functionality I have found is in On1Raw (see video ) however, it seems a bit overkill to buy it just for this. Imatch: can display up to 8 picture s, but there is no equivalent to a survey / compare view: I can delete a picture, but I haven't found a way to drop it from the comparison without deleting the file.PhotoSupreme: its "light table" is probably the closest to Lightroom's survey mode, but I couldn't get the lock/unlock zoom to work.FastRawViewer: does what it says on the tin (views raws crazy fast) but the multi-window mode is clunky, shows only 4 at a time, and I have not found a way to compare more than 4 (other than comparing 4, removing 3, manually adding other 3, etc).Photo Mechanic: no multi-image comparison. However, I have not been able to find a program that does it in a way that's as good as Lightroom's compare and survey views: say I have 10 shots of a child running: 5 I delete because out of focus etc, 2 I choose because they're the best ones (3 star rating), 2 I don't rate/pick but I still keep them and don't delete them. So I thought: maybe I can use another program for the culling and comparing of multiple photos, before processing the selection in AcdSee.Į.g. I like it, it does most of what I need, except its compare functionality is pathetic: keyboard shortcuts don't work, you can't compare more than 4 photos at a time, if you deselect one the box remains grey - it's clear it was just an afterthought. I am reluctant to upgrade to Lightroom CC because I really hate the concept of the subscription model. Do you have recommendations for a Windows software that can help with culling and comparing multiple photos, before importing and processing the photos in Lightroom?
